Erin's second bout of tonsillitis appears to have been viral as the antibiotics did nothing. It took her another week before she began to feel better but it has left her tonsils HUGE! They are now almost touching each other so she is really struggling to sleep, she wakes up frequently choking on them. Not fun.
So it wasn't the ideal time to return to the world of work, my first day back was after a bad night where I notched up 2 hours sleep, which was not even all in one go, it was grim! She seems to be coping well with my disappearance 3 days a week and is loving all this time she now has with her doting grandparents, she has already trained both of her Papa's to a high standard of play. In the first week she was pretty much ignoring me when I got home but this has thankfully passed and I now get treated to the 'welcome home dance' of excitement that her Daddy always gets.
Spring has sprung here in Scotland and we have been enjoying glorious sunshine for a change. This had made Erin very happy as she loves being outdoors, it's quite a struggle to get her to come in! She is still nurturing her birdy obsession and has a new found love of slides, methinks we might have to invest in some play equipment for the garden. We enjoyed a lovely day at Ayr at the weekend, Erin ran about for ages in the wide open park.
Her words are coming slowly but surely but we are now convinced the huge tonsils are holding back her speech development. You have to really listen closely to her babbling or you'll miss important new words which annoys her greatly as she loves nothing more than a round of applause for new tricks.
She has finally been well enough to return to the social circuit. We have had some lovely playdates with her best friend Kate and we went back to our toddler group last week where she has loads of fun.
I'm not going to spoil my happy post with too much detail but we've had a few medical related nonsense as usual. A blood sample to check Erin's kidney function was lost enroute to London so it'll need to be repeated. Joy. Also Not fun is the dreadful service we get from our health visitors so for my own sanity & Erin's health i have decided won't be using them for any of Erin's vaccinations etc and I will now be going through my GP for her care plans. I'm going to save my vented frustration at them for the complaint letter I am going to write if I ever find the time/energy.
On the whole things would be well if it wasn't for these pesky tonsils, they are really worrying us due to their size, we just want them out now! We are waiting on a referral so could be a while yet.......
Being back at work is actually ok, far less stressful than being Erin's PA, but it already feels like one more ball to juggle in a busy life of medical nonsense, housework, toddler wrangling not to mention the dogs and horse who seem to just get squeezed in along the way!
