Erin took part in Under 5's games in the obsticle course (not her fav) the ball throw and the 25 metre dash, for her it was really about the taking part of course but she did win a bronze medal for the run so it was a nice achievement too!
The most important thing we brought back was many new friendships. Erin met a wonderful little girl called Phoebe who is 9 months older than her and had a liver transplant just 10 months ago. Phoebe was a healthy baby then toddler who fell ill with a mystery virus that caused her liver failure, she was transplanted within 2 weeks of becoming unwell. She is doing incredably well and even ran the 3km donor run with her mum! Erin and Phoebe hit it off immediately, Erin was showing off her tummy (as you do) and once they'd compaired stripes they were off holding hands at every oppertunity. Super sweet girls.
Another new friend is Johan who is just 3 days older the Erin. He was also a BA baby and did well post Kasai until last November when he became ill very suddenly and had the first emergency living donor transplant from his mum. Both are doing very well now and his mum did the 3km donor run, half of it with Johan on her back! It was great to spend time with other families like ours, it felt very normal to have to go back to your hotel room for Tac time. It was also super to see the older kids who have been there, done that with transplantation and are living life to the full.
Next year is our teams home games in Sheffield (15-18 August 2013) and we cannot wait!
