Another sad loss

We have had another sad loss to our family. Jamie's Grandpa, Alexander Gladstone (Sanny), Erin's great grandpa, very sadly passed away on Thursday afternoon. He had been ill for a short time but we had hoped he was on the mend. He has left an enormous legacy of 5 children, 9 grand children and 7 great grandchildren with another due next year. He was a tremendous character and will be deeply missed by all the family.

Erin has continued to be unwell this week and we have been back to Yorkhill for bloods on Friday. I had explained all week on the phone how she was doing but they seemed surprised to see her looking quite pale and not herself. She had bloods taken then they decided to do an emergency ultrasound scan, not enitrely sure what they were looking for but her pale stools were the main cause for concern. They did want to look at lymph nodules in her abdomen but they couldn't get a good view. The scan showed nothing obvious and the liver was a good texture but the Radiographer did say she had little experience of liver transplant patients so I'm not sure if it made us feel better or worse. Her LFT's are all still good but her Tac was still high at 7.8 so we have dropped her dose again to try and correct this as it is affecting her Potassium level which is high at 5.9 (under 5.6 is deemed acceptable). She has lost a lot of weight, she was 13.6kg fully clothed 2 weeks ago and is now 12.5kg in just a nappy, thank god for the fat store she had built up. The results didn't come back until late on Friday so it was too late to speak to Leeds apparently so we will see what their thoughts are on Monday. We will have to go in again at some point this week to re check the Tac level.

In the mean time we have to try her on a lactose free diet, not easy when the only thing she has been reliably eating recently was babybel cheese and fromage fraise.....We got her soya milk and were delighted that she seemed happy to drink it. Not so happy 5 minutes later when it all came back up again. Thankfully this hasn't happened again and she is eating a little more.

After two weeks of being housebound (except for hospital visits) its safe to say we are getting a little cabin fever. She has missed another 2 birthday parties this week, I'm really not looking forward to her reaching the age where she knows she is missing out. I've been keeping myself busy with lots of internet shopping, shhh don't tell Jamie!
