This blog is the story of Erin, who was diagnosed with the paediatric liver disease Biliary Atresia at 6 weeks of age. She had a liver transplant at 6 months old thanks to a very kind and generous donor. This story is primarily for friends and family who would like to follow her progress but also for anyone who is affected by this life changing illness.

All systems are go for tomorrow
Unsurprisingly no cancellations happened but we have made it to the date Jamie wangled with the ENT secretary and tomorrow it's bye bye tonsils & adenoids, (hopefully hello sleep!). Erin has been doing really well (aside from not sleeping from adenoids & general choking on tonsils). It's nothing short of a miracle that she is well for the surgery tomorrow but it has come at a cost as we have kept her away from other kids, play groups etc for such a long time, I feel really bad for her! What has helped a lot has been the lovely weather we have been getting recently, Erin is now almost feral and spending all waking hours in the garden, it has also really perked me up from all my recent moaning.

We had a pre op visit today at Yorkhill and the anaesthetist didn't even want to see Erin as the latest blood results were so good. She didn't want any new bloods taken in order to preserve 'the vein' for tomorrow so a good visit indeed!
We topped the day off with a lovely lunch at Kelvingrove Art gallery & museum, I'm sure other visitors were delighted to have their 'culture' trip enriched by our little Tasmanian devil running around shouting ooo ooo at the stuffed monkeys. Then we had a naughty trip to the great play park nearby, sssssh don't tell the surgeon. Erin had a ball and was delighted to have Mummy and Daddy to herself all day. She has a new obsession about picking flowers, mainly daisy's and dandelions, it's very sweet but it makes for much longer walks in order to get anywhere.

Surgery is scheduled for the afternoon list so could be anytime after 1.30pm, I really hope she is high up on the running order or it is going to be a very long day......she is to be fasted from 6.45am, eeeeeeek! Thanks for all the lovely messages and emails wishing her well, it's very much appreciated. This will be general anaesthetic number 10 but it doesn't seem to get any easier..........
