Since I last blogged we had a lovely family meal at my parents house to celebrate my nephew Liam getting his black belt in Karate, quite an achievement for an 11 year old. Erin had lots of fun eating and demanding attention from her big cousins.
Then during last week I managed to sneak away to my friend Kimberley's hen do in Windsor for a few days. We had a great time with lots of sparkly wine and good company. We spent a day a the races on ladies day at Royal Ascot and even saw the Queen, I even won £30! We went on a boat trip on the Thames and had a quick tour around Windsor Castle. It was great to be away and have some me time for a few days although I missed my sidekick like crazy! Erin had some Daddy time and loved it although she squealed for 10 minutes straight when she saw me in the morning.

On Saturday we went to a Liver Family day in Glasgow organised by our GI team in Yorkhill. It was very interesting and actually quite emotional, it kind of brought it home to me that Jamie, Erin and I have really been on the fast track of liver disease for the last year, we have already been through most of the issues that were being discussed. Most importantly we had the chance to meet some other local families going through similar things. We met a lovely couple and their 3 month old baby girl who also has BA and had a Kasai at 5 weeks old. She is doing very well at the moment and we hope that she continues on a smooth path. We are going to keep in touch with the family who only live an hours drive away, it will be so nice if the girls can be friends as they grow up.
We had a nice quiet family Sunday for Father's day as Jamie had been night shift so Erin and I were quiet as mice until he got up at lunchtime (Jamie may disagree!) On Monday it was off to Yorkhill for bloods, it was reasonably straightforward and 2 sticks got enough for the samples although Erin was distraught again which I hate. The results were all good and she weighed in at 10.3kg so her MMF has been increased a little.
The next day I wasn't surprised that Erin had loose stools, increasing her MMF always does this to her for a day or two. By the afternoon however it was far more explosive and by early evening she was projectile vomiting for a few hours. We rang our liver nurse and she told us what to do, the problem is she may not be absorbing her anti rejection meds so is at risk of rejection when she has prolonged bouts of sickness or diarrhoea. The diarrhoea continued all night so but morning we were like zombies, poor tiddles had terrible tummy pains and just couldn't stay asleep. We thought she was over the worst but the sickness returned on Thursday evening although she was quite bright, so we rang Yorkhill again. We couldn't get in touch with any of the GI team so the on call registrar heard the words ''transplant'' and ''baby'' and wanted her in. So poor chicken had to have more bloods taken which was thankfully fairly quick and the results were fine so we were allowed home. I cannot begin to tell you how emotionally exhausting it is to have to go through the entire saga with every nurse and doctor anytime Erin is admitted, they even want to know all about my pregnancy etc. Erin seemed to be having a great time until the bloods and then she crashed and burned, poor lamb.
We didn't get home until 2am and she was very unsettle all night. She has slept for most of today and has managed to keep down a little food but she brought back up her evening bottle so she is not over it yet. Thankfully she is managing to stay hydrated and is trying to play and be bright. Fingers crossed she is over the worst and eating lots again soon, just as well she had bulked up because she has certainly dropped a few grams this week.
