After a lovely fortnight break from hospitals (our longest time ever!) we had a tough visit to Yorkhill for bloods on Monday, I was dreading it as it was the first time since her transplant that she would need to be jagged for blood. True to form it took an hour, 3 attempts and 3 people to get the sample and resulted in one very upset Erin and mummy. My secret weapon was asking Aunty Marie to join us as Erin was suitable pleased with her presence she forgot about her ordeal and before her tears were dry she was smiling again and pulling Marie's hair. Results were all good which is the main thing and I think we'll be asking for the successful registrar in future, Erin doesn't like to part with her hard earned blood for just anyone.
We have had a busy week of socialising too with a family BBQ at the Tottens on Sunday. On Tuesday we had a visit to Great Gran followed by lunch with Aunty Lois then a play date with our friend Kate & Lucy. We had a girly shopping day with Aunty Marie and Erin has now got her first pair of 'proper' shoes, she was pleased as punch when she tried them on so decided to wear them home.
Yesterday Jamie took the day off work and we went to Lanark's Laminer Day celebrations (note: this is like a gala day but definitely not a gala day and full of historical significance if you are speaking to anyone from Lanark ; )) It was lovely to be able to show her off to friends and she enjoyed watching all the parade lorries and children in their costumes. She actually fell asleep just as one of the pipe bands passed us but at home she is woken by the phone ringing, go figure? We came home in the afternoon and dropped her off at her Gran & Papa McIlvaney's where she had her first sleepover! She was a very good girl and only up once during the night for a short spell so she is allowed to go back for more nights in the future, hurrah! Jamie and I headed back into Lanark for our first proper night off and had a great time meeting up with lots of friends. It's hard to believe that at last years Lanimer day I was heavily pregnant and I thought the biggest hurdles we would be making as new parents would be about getting her into a routine and acheiving a good bond with our baby, ah the naiivity!
