Good news, bad news time again

Well things have been nice and drama free for the last fortnight or so. She dealt with the last d&v bug very well and was back to herself after 24 hours. She has spent the last two weeks on pretty good form, helping put up the Christmas decorations and playing with Auntie Marie who is home for the holidays. We've had some interesting weather here in Scotland with near hurricane force storms and a good dumping of snow so have spent a lot of time indoors.

Last week she was a little out of sorts but we put it down to teething, no big deal. We went to her toddlers Christmas party on Monday where she had a great time and didn't even have a Santa induced meltdown so all was good. By that afternoon she was not happy, I put it down to teething and post party exhaustion.

On Tuesday morning we were due to attend another party but she had developed a nasty viral looking rash on her chest and two tiny blisters on her hands. There is a very contagious bug called hand. foot and mouth disease doing the rounds here so it is the most likely culprit, not too serious but can be nasty if they get a lot of  ulcers in their mouths. But as any post transplant family know, we had to have her checked out encase it was chicken pox. GP agreed with me and we were due at Yorkhill this morning for routine bloods anyway so they were happy with that.

Bloods went remarkably well, she was (relatively) calm and it was less stressful than usual, we thought that was us home free until after Christmas........
So time for good news bad news. Her liver results are all good (Yippeee) but her immune system struggling big time (Boooo). Her neutrophils are crazy low, normal is between 1.5-8.5 and she tends to be well within this range. Today's results were 0.5. This means the first line of defence in her immune system is very compromised at the moment so we are back in quarantine until repeat bloods next Tuesday. This might be caused by that pesky medication MMF (Cellcept) so they have stopped it entirely. Or it could be the virus or a host of other things. We will know more next week but all we can do is stay home, keep an eye on her and hope she can fight this virus with such little immune support.

Otherwise she is really coming on, she has grown a bit more and looking very much the toddler, my little baby is all gone! She can say loads more words like bubble, ball, duck, baba (baby), more, icky (mickey mouse) and again but prefers to shout Arrrrh instead and some days pretends she can only say muma. Her favourite game involves putting a tea towel on her head and walking/running about the house like this. She can't see at all and bumps into everything but finds it hysterically funny and crys if you try and intervene on health and safety grounds, she is .....erm.... very entertaining.
