The good, the bad and the ugly

The good news is the i.v. Antibiotic is stopping tomorrow and is switching to an oral one that Erin will stay on for some time, but we can give her at home. This should prevent anymore Cholangitis for a wee while and give her a chance to grow little. This means the PICC line can come out so she is down on a list for theatre on Friday and it won't take very long.

The ugly is the NG feeding tube is in : ( There was no option really as her feeding wasn't up to the volume she needed. She is now on 4 bottles a day of 150mls, what she doesn't finish gets put down the tube. Also a pump will run at night putting 300mls down over 10 hours. This means she can still eat solids and hope that she starts finishing feeds so the tube isn't down for too long. At least it stops the stress at feed times as we know she is getting enough in her tummy, we can also put meds down it which should help as she is on so many now its becoming a battle. We have to be trained to put the milk down and pass the tubes as they need changed twice a week and whenever she pulls them out. So we won't get home til we've 'passed' but hopefully *blood results pending* this might be the weekend.

The bad news is that my nephew Liam is in Monklands hospital with a bad ear infection. He has already had surgery a couple of times for a nasty condition called Cholesteatoma, a tumour kind of thing that damaged his inner ear beyond repair. We really hope this isn't back and he is on the mend soon, sending him healing vibes from us all.

We have bought a Christmas tree advent calendar for Erin's cot to help brighten the room up. Surely our luck is bound to change soon?
