Cannula's and fish

We are back to the nightmare of keeping cannula's in. They have run out of veins to use and it looks like we'll need the iv drugs for sometime so Erin is booked for theatre on Tuesday for a new central line. This will mean no more needles for bloods (woo hoo) or cannula's and should stay in for up to three months post transplant, whenever that might be! I'm not sure the veins she has left will last til Tuesday though so she might be on the emergency list before then.

Erin's ascities is still pretty bad so she has had a miserable (and sleepless) few days. The junior Dr's here have exams coming up next week and word has got out that Erin is an interesting case so we've had a steady stream of them coming from far and wide for a 'look see'. We don't mind though and they are all very nice. Erin is getting used to some of the nurses now and has a favourite sister, Karen, who is the only one she will let take her blood pressure.

Erin's Uncle Martin has came down for a quick visit so we managed a walk yesterday with him. She kept a close eye on him in case he was a Dr in disguise, she kept peeking out from behind her blanket and looking with suspicion, it was very cute.

Erin's big cousins Liam and Hayley are running a 5k for the CLDF soon so if anyone would like to donate please visit their just giving page and be super generous 'cos they are only 11 & 7 (on Sunday)

They are the nicest children EVER and I'm missing them lots and lots.

Erin needs a lot of distraction to stop her removing tummy tubes & cannulas so we've discovered the fish tank at the nurses desk. We are making regular trips to say hello to try grabbing them through the glass, this works for a bit but she prefers something she can really grab, where is a soft beagle ear when you need one?
