Freedom! Well a little anyway

Today has been a very good day! Potassium levels are normal so no more ECG machine or nebuliser or iv antibiotics. No fever or fast heart or breathing so they were probably due to the nebuliser. Panic about infection is over. Her LFTs are all looking good and heading in the right direction so no immediate worries about rejection which is great as her Tac level is now 5. She now gets another immunosuppresent too so we only want Tac around 7 or 8.

The smiling and giggling is none stop. She is not drinking her milk requirement of 840mls........she is drinking waaaaaay more and had over 1000mls. Go Erin! When she sank 200mls for the first time last night I did a dance around the room! All you liver families will know exactly what I mean, when feeding has been such an issue for so long it was like seeing her say her first words. She is still doing very well with solids and has moved onto stage 2 with wee chunks in. She is enjoying experimenting with carrot stick things (think giant Wotsits) her face was so funny when she first felt them melting in her mouth.






We have been receiving lots of nice things in the post which has perked us up too. We got a very nice card from all the lovely people at my work, it was so thoughtful and I loved all the messages of support, thanks guys! Erin also got her first valentine card from her boyfriends, the young Mark brothers, it was uber cute & beautifully made. We have an expanding animal collection with the arrival of bunny (thanks Jo, Hughie & Tess) and lion & rhino (thanks Simon, Dawn & boys) which are all already becoming favourites. Then we got a lovely parcel from Aunty Lois who is making a surprise visit tomorrow so Erin is very excited about seeing her.






So to sum up Erin is being very well behaved and not giving the team much trouble. The word on the ward is we may be allowed to take her back to the transplant flat by the weekend for a sleepover. This way we can get used to taking care of all her meds while being very close to the team for daily bloods and any support we need. If that goes well we could be looking at the 'H' word by the end of next week!!!! In the mean time we are LOVING having our happy, portable baby back, I think I will wake up everyday grateful for being able to pick her up without wires, tubes and monitors.
